O artigo 259 do Código Brasileiro de Justiça Desportiva diz que "a partida, prova ou equivalente poderá ser anulada se ocorrer, comprovadamente, erro de direito".
Schmitt lembrou ainda que é cedo dizer que o jogo pode ser anulado, pois ainda nem recebeu uma representação do Sport pedindo a impugnação.
Até mesmo o presidente do Palmeiras, Luiz Gonzaga Belluzzo, reconheceu que Elmo apitou antes da conclusão do lance.
